Our History

Our business Montferland K9 Services and working dog kennel van de Montferhoeve began over 25 years ago in Kilder, the Netherlands. It began as a passion and quickly evolved into the desire to provide the type of dogs we love world-wide. In 2000, we obtained our FCI kennel registration, van de Montferhoeve. In those first initial years, we were an FCI kennel for German Shepherds, before discovering our love for the Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherd. Rather quickly, we dove head first into the KNPV type of dogs. It is here, where we presently focus primarily. In 2011, we became a legally registered business and kennel in the Netherlands to be able to expand our services further. Including taking a course in canine kinesiology and obtaining a diploma.

In this year, we also began a partnership with Chris Race of Royal Police Dogs to provide more police prospects to the USA. This partnership continued into 2015 before ending. Recently, in 2020, we purchased a new property in Wierden, the Netherlands, to expand not only our business and working dog kennel, once again, but also our possibilities.

Since the beginning, we have bred, raised, and trained dogs for various aspects; including police/military, SAR (search and rescue), detection (narcotics and explosives), personal protection, KNPV, as well as various sport venues.

Our new location is situated in Wierden, the Netherlands on approximately 12,000 sq. meters of land about a 10 minute drive from town. We are neigboured by a golf course and numerous acres of farm land. An ideal location for expansion. We currently have 6 barns, 10 kennels, 3 outdoor runs and a swimming pool.

We are in the initial phases of building and remodeling. Our current plans include having several barns for detection, enviornmental exposure, and bitework, a full size training field suitable for IGP or KNPV training, a whelping building, obstacle course, pool as well as pond suitable for dogs to swim as well as train the KNPV water exercises, 20+ kennels each fitted with their own outdoor run, an isolation area, grooming area, and much more.
